An allergist is a doctor whose specialty attempt to deal with the problem of allergy. An allergy is an inappropriate response of the immune system to a harmless substance. One of the functions of the immune system is to make antibodies to attack dangerous bacteria, parasites, and viruses. When such an organism is detected by the circulating cells of the immune system it takes information from the invading organism and reports that information back to headquarters. There antibodies are made which are both carried by immune cells and released to circulate throughout the body. When these antibodies contact the invading cells, they are destroyed. When the antibodies contact the invading organism histamine is released by surrounding cells. (Histamine is normally present inside cells) This causes local blood vessels to dilate and brings a flood of immune cells into the area to assist in the fight. This is seen as an "inflammation," one of the cardinal signs of an infection. This is a description of the way the immune system is supposed to work.

Acupuncture has been practiced for over 4,000 years. It involves the insertion of very fine needles, sometimes in conjunction with electrical stimulus, on the body's surface to influence the functioning of the body. (In addition, a non-invasive method of massage therapy, called Acupressure, can also be effective.)

The first record of Acupuncture is found in the 4,700 year old Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine, the oldest medical textbook in the world. It is said to have been written down from earlier theories by Shen Nung, the father of Chinese medicine.

Being grounded in knowledge relating to fasting is useless unless you apply that knowledge and actually fast. Fasting combined with colon cleansing is the fastest route to enlightenment I know of. I do it for spiritual and for health reasons which, if you think about it, are not entirely separate. I find myself much more productive when I am clear in mind and body.

If you are going to juice fast, the first thing you need is a juicer. I recommend either the Acme juicer or the Champion juicer. I have both and each does a fabulous job. The Acme juicer is better for citrus fruits (the juice of which you should not drink if you have arthritis), and the Champion juicer is best for making juice from "solid" plants such as carrots, apples, celery, etc. You can find these juicers at most large department stores. They also can be purchased through health food stores. Call around and find out locations and prices of these products. Expect to spend about $200-250 for a good juicer. This may seem like a lot of money, but it will pay for itself in thousands of dollars in saved medical bills over the years.
