Applied Kinesiology, or AK, is a diagnostic system using muscle testing to supplement other examination procedures founded and developed by Dr. George Goodheart, Jr., D.C. The origin of contemporary applied kinesiology is traced to 1964 when George G. Goodheart, Jr., D.C., first observed that in a condition of functional health, distortion of posture is often associated with muscles that cannot be demonstrated to be a strong as they should be. He observed that he could frequently feel tender lumps at the ends of the tested muscle. Massage of these areas of apparent muscle dysfunction improved both postural balance and changed the results of muscle testing, namely by restoring strength.

An enduring dream of humankind is to find the "Fountain of Youth," a way to the prevention of aging. There are many notions of what causes aging. The idea which seems to tie them all together best is the free radical theory. This notion, put forth by Denham Harmon in the 1950s has it that oxidation liberates molecules with unpaired electrons and that before these unpaired electrons can be taken into the antioxidant systems of the body, damage is done to cell structures, DNA, RNA, and proteins. This is thought to leave the cells of the body in a state of diminished vitality, a kind of damage which is not fully repairable. This includes the vital hormone system.
Medical Tips & Questions
Hypnotherapy is the induction of a trance state during which there is access to that aspect of the mind which creates the experience of reality. During this state of relaxation and trance that aspect of the mind is open to suggestion. Because it has integral connections to the entire nervous system, and thus the entire body, skilled trance induction and proper suggestion has earned a place in medicine and dentistry for treatment of a variety of conditions. It has also earned a place as an adjunctive tool in the hands of psychotherapists. For hypnotherapy, the road to acceptance met the usual barriers along the way by the closed- minded mental set of traditional medicine and dentistry, however the usefulness of hypnotherapy inspired its proponents to persist until the majority of the medical and dental communities at least acquiesced to its use. Ironically, nutritional medicine as well as other natural medicine approaches are now in the same position vis-a-vis the medical establishment which was endured by hypnotherapists earlier in the twentieth century and late in the nineteenth century. |
